Pretending it was an accident and everybody is actually against it is part of the fun for them.
I can see how it was mistaken as an accident. Americans often put hand on heart and snap it to 45 degrees angle as an expression of thank you. Very common gesture, very easy to do it accidentally at a political event. 3 times in a row. While someone in the crowd yells “sieg heil!”
